Sen. Cynthia Villar told DWIZ on Saturday, noting it was Imee Marcos’ birthday on Nov. 10, when former First Lady Imelda Marcos was found guilty of graft charges.
The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division found the former First Lady guilty of seven counts of graft. She is also sentenced to imprisonment of six years and one month, up to 11 years for each count.

When asked if the conviction of Imelda affected Imee Marcos’ candidacy in the 2019 senate elections, Senator Cynthia Villar claimed: “Wala naman [It does not have an effect].”
Villar and Marcos filed their certificate of candidacy under the Nacionalista Party to run for senators in 2019 elections. /jpv
