Cops nab ex-PBA coach Dante Silverio for indiscriminate firing

This forwarded photo from the Southern Police District shows former PBA coach Dante Silverio inside the village. He was arrested for allegedly indiscriminately firing his gun in Barangay Magallanes, Makati City on Friday, November 9, 2018.

Former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) coach Dante Silverio was arrested Friday over alleged incident of indiscriminate firing at the Ecology Village, Barangay Magallanes in Makati City.

The Southern Police District said Silverio, 81, indiscriminately fired his gun inside the village causing fear and disturbance among the residents.


Police said Silverio tried to flee the area on board his vehicle after the incident. He was later arrested in a follow-up operation conducted jointly by the Special Weapons and Tactics team, the Makati City Police and Police Community Precinct 4 inside his office at Don Chino Roces Extension.

Police said the former coach was detained at the Makati City Police Station. Charges of alarm and scandal are being prepared to be filed against him. /jpv
