BAGUIO CITY – Two houses, including a café, burned down on Thursday night (Nov. 8) at Sagada town in Mountain Province.
An initial report said two successive explosions were heard at sitio (sub-village) Kiltepan. When the police arrived at 8:30 p.m., the property of Wilson Capuyan, widower of renowned weaver-entrepreneur Narda Capuyan, was already engulfed by fire at Barangay (village) Kilong.
Responding firemen declared fire out at 11:55 p.m. No one was reported hurt. Only the structures’ concrete posts and walls were left standing.
A plastic cup filled with gasoline was found at one of the cottages spared by the blaze.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the cause and cost of damages have yet to be established.
The structures, which lie on disputed land, are near Sagada’s Kiltepan Viewpoint, a major tourist attraction in town.
