There is no definite date yet for the visit to the Philippines of Chinese President Xi Jinping, but President Duterte is ready to welcome him to his home in Davao City.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters on Thursday that this was what Mr. Duterte told Chinese reporters who interviewed him recently.

Panelo said the President would invite Xi to his home in Davao City, just as he did with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe,  the first head of state to visit the country under the Duterte administration in January 2017.

Earlier, Malacañang officials said the Chinese president would visit the country sometime this month. —CHRISTINE O. AVENDAÑO
