2 drug suspects killed in shootout with Laguna police
Two drug suspects were killed in a shootout with police officers in Laguna on Thursday.
Reports from the Laguna police said that Miguel Centeno was killed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Parian in Calamba City at around 1:30 p.m.
Another drug suspect, Louie Dizon Valenciano, was also killed in another buy-bust in Barangay Sto. Angel Norte, Sta. Cruz 30 minutes later.
Police said Centeno drew his gun and fired at his poseur buyer after sensing that he was transacting with an undercover agent. Police said this prompted the backup officers to retaliate, hitting the suspect.
According to the police, immediate medical response was requested, but the suspect eventually died due to his gunshot wounds. Recovered from the scene of the encounter were a .45 caliber firearm and a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
Valenciano, meanwhile, ran inside a house to get a gun after sensing that his buyer is an undercover police. He then shot at the pursuing officers, which forced them to return fire, killing him on the spot.
