Man posing as a woman nabbed for extortion in Nueva Ecija
The Valenzuela police have arrested a man posing as a woman who allegedly extorted money from another man in exchange for not sharing nude photos in an entrapment operation in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.
Information from the Valenzuela City Police Station and the Northern Police District on Wednesday showed that the victim sent photos and video clips of him engaging in sexual acts to the suspect, identified as Brian Doyle Avila, through a mobile messaging app.
The victim said he sent the media files to Avila believing that he was talking to a woman. However, after receiving the files, Avila threatened to share the files to the victim’s friends if the latter does not give him money.
The victim then asked the assistance of the Valenzuela police, who tracked down the location of Avila using the reference number of the money transfer system used to pay the suspect.
An operation was planned on Monday after authorities learned that the reference number was registered to a shop inside the Zaragoza Public Market in Barangay San Isidro, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.
The plan was, however, called off due to the lack of time for preparation.
The police conducted the entrapment operation the day after on Tuesday, resulting in the capture of Avila.
The report noted that before Avila was arrested, he already sent the photos and videos to the victim’s friends.
According to Valenzuela police, charges of robbery extortion, in relation to R.A. 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009 will be filed against Avila before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor’s Office. /ee
