Gov’t employee shot dead in Valenzuela City

A male government employee was killed by an unknown assailant aboard a motorcycle on Wednesday morning in Barangay Bignay, Valenzuela City.

Reports from the Northern Police District said the victim, identified as Emiliano Denilla, 57,  and his wife were inside their car when they were shot several times by a gunman using a still unidentified handgun.

The shooter fled the scene using a motorcycle driven by his accomplice. Eyewitnesses said the two fled towards Deparo in North Caloocan.

Both victims were rushed to hospital by a witness, but Emiliano was declared dead on arrival due to multiple gunshot wounds on his face. His wife, who was shot on the chest, is currently under treatment at a hospital.

Valenzuela Police Chief S/Supt. David Poklay told INQUIRER.net that they are looking at the nature of the couple’s job as a possible angle.

According to the NPD, follow-up operations are being conducted to identify and arrest the suspects.  Emiliano’s body was taken to NPD’s Crime Laboratory Office for an autopsy on Wednesday. /ee
