2 alleged thieves dead in Laguna, Cavite shootouts

SAN PEDRO CITY – Two male suspects were killed in separate incidents of robbery and theft in Cavite and Laguna early on Wednesday.

In Bacoor City, Cavite, a still unidentified man was killed in a shootout with the police, who caught him in the act of breaking into a store.

Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Calabarzon police, said a team of policemen on patrol chanced upon the suspect as he was trying to open the locks with a crowbar around 3:30 a.m in Barangay Queens Row West.

When approached, the suspect allegedly drew out a .38-caliber gun and fired shots. The police returned fire and killed him instantly.

In Alaminos, Laguna, a suspect identified only as alias Milbert was also killed in a shootout around 1 a.m. in Barangay del Carmen.

Gaoiran said Milbert and companion, Joven Montefalcon, allegedly stole a motorcycle owned by Apolonio Bigal.

Bigal sought help from village patrolmen who chased the escaping suspects.

According to the police, they had reached Barangay San Juan when Milbert suddenly fell off the motorcycle after suffering a bullet from the village officials.

The suspect was dead on arrival in the hospital while Montefalcon was arrested.

Police were still investigating the alleged shootout between the suspects and the village officials.
