Magnitude 3 quake rocks Surigao

A magnitude 3 earthquake hit the province of Surigao del Sur early Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs reported that the tremor struck at 4:13 a.m. Its epicenter was 8 kilometers northeast of Carrascal, Surigao Del Sur.

The agency noted that no damage or aftershocks and damage were expected from the quake.

Phivolcs did not record any intensities.

The tremor had a depth of focus of 112 kilometers and was of tectonic origin. /cbb
