Baguio school sticks by its mandatory pregnancy test policy

A college in Baguio is standing by its policy of mandatory pregnancy test for its female students despite criticisms it received online.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Pines City Colleges said that it “abides by its policy of pregnancy tests for female students who are enrolling in any subject that would endanger both mother and child.”

Such policy requires all of its female students to undergo pregnancy tests that will be administered by the school’s medical clinic.

“We believe it is a policy protective of our students while they are in our care and are deployed to internship programs in hospitals and to clinical practice,” Pines City Colleges pointed out.

The school also noted that the policy was agreed upon by its students once they enrolled in the institution.  /kga
