Classes in all levels in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte were suspended on Tuesday due to severe flooding.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Dipolog City Mayor Darel Uy ordered the suspension of classes in both public and private schools in all levels “due to the relentless downpour of heavy rain caused by thunderstorms and resulting to flooding in several schools and vulnerable barangays.”

The mayor said that the suspension was based on the recommendation of the Dipolog City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office after some roads became impassable.

Residents in Dipolog were also advised to take precautionary measures as the water levels in the major tributaries have risen and necessitated rescue and evacuation efforts in some areas. /cbb
