On Nov. 6, 1574, Rajah Lakandula, King of Tondo, led an uprising to protest the Spaniards’ ill-treatment of his countrymen.
The Order of Lakandula, the order of political and civic merit of the republic, is conferred in commemoration of the leadership, courage and resolve of Rajah Lakandula.
