The level of gas traces caused by a leakage at the Phoenix Petroleum gas station in Barangay Bangkal in Makati has gone down as of Sunday, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

In a telephone interview, Senior Fire Officer 2 Hoover Moral of BFP District III said Evangelista Street, where the gas station is located, was declared open before noon on Sunday.

“Ngayon napapadaan na yung road. Bumababa na yung traces of gas. Wala na masyadong amoy,” Moral said.

Evangelista Street was closed to motorists on Thursday night due to the leakage.

Moral said, however, that the area was still not declared “clear.”

“Under security pa rin ng BFP yung area,” he said.

[Security is still being maintained in the area.]

Moral also said that authorities had not yet determined the type of gas that leaked at the station. /atm
