SAN PEDRO CITY – An alleged member of a gun-for-hire syndicate was killed in a police operation in this city before noon on Saturday.
Supt. Giovannie Martinez, city police chief, said the slain suspect Rodolfo Mayorca, 39, was the target of a buy-bust operation in the suspect’s home in Barangay (village) San Antonio around 11:40 a.m.
In a text message, Martinez said the suspect was first to shoot the police when he realized he was dealing with undercover policemen. The police retaliated and killed the suspect.
Police said Mayorca was a member of the “Chong Camerino Group,” which was allegedly involved in contract killing and illegal drugs trade in the adjacent city of Muntinlupa in Metro Manila.
Martinez said they recovered a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) and a .45 caliber gun.
