PAGADIAN CITY – After five years in hiding, a former inmate who escaped jail was finally arrested by the police on Friday in Barangay Macasing, Dumingag town, Zambonaga del Sur.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, spokesperson of the regional police office here, said police finally caught up with Bernabe Lumawas alias “Mario” who bolted out of San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm on May 12, 2013.
He said Lumawas, who had been sentenced for double homicide, was brought to the Dumingag police station for proper disposition.
Recovered from his possession was a caliber .38 pistol with six ammunitions.
