Not only dead people were remembered on All Saints’ Day, as deceased animals dear to their humans got fresh flowers, candles, and prayers, too.

Pet owners even brought stuff toys and food for their departed friendly animals on the memorial wall of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) society in Quezon City on Thursday.

According to the PAWS website, their pet memorial wall is a place “where humans, pet guardians and owners can dedicate memorial wall tiles for their pets who have moved on to the rainbow bridge.”

“While it is built for the memory of a departed pet, it is not a columbarium to keep the cremated remains nor a place to bury the deceased animals,” PAWS noted.

The memorial wall, according to the organization, is a “good way to create a lasting memorial to the pets that have been a significant part of our lives.”

“At the same time reaching out a helping hand to the animals who are in dire need of our help at the shelter,” the PAWS added.

The memorial wall project is meant to raise funds for the shelter, which currently houses more than 250 cats and 55 dogs looking for adoptive homes, the animal protection advocates said. Each memorial wall tile costs P2,500.

The memorial wall would be open until Friday (November 2) from10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the PAWS said.  /kga
