Almost 250,000 individuals visited the Manila South Cemetery by late Thursday afternoon, data from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) showed.

As of 4 p.m., the NCRPO said a total of 247,925 people have arrived at the cemetery to visit the grave of their departed loved ones on All Saints’ Day.

Supt. Albert Barot, ground commander at the Manila South Cemetery, said it was a “peaceful” day so far as they have yet to record any criminal incidents in the area.

“Still peaceful walang reported na untoward incidents, no pickpockets and cases of physical injury wala tayong reported cases,” he told INQUIRER.net.

Barot attributed the peace to their implementation of stricter inspection and “frisking” of cemetery visitors.

Barot said they expect the number of cemetery visitors to still increase due to Thursday’s fair weather.  /kga
