DAGUPAN CITY –  A 34-year old farm hand was shot dead while another man was wounded by a businessman they tried to attacked with a bolo and a crowbar on Wednesday afternoon at Tayug town in Pangasinan province.

Mark Anthony Balayan, 39, was standing in front of his house when Gil and Jesus Batalla rushed towards him with farm implements.

Balayan ran into the house for his gun and fired at the two men, killing Jesus. Gil was brought to a hospital for medical treatment. It was not clear how the victims were related.

Police said the attack was motivated by an old grudge. Balayan is now under the custody of the Tayug police station. YOLANDA SOTELO
