To lighten up the mood in what appeared to be a densely packed Manila South Cemetery, the Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed a different kind of personnel–mascots “Manila” and “Marilag”– to relieve the tension of people who are visiting the Manila South Cemetery for the Undas 2018.

The mascots are a big hit especially for children visiting the cemetery. It was also an effective tool to dampen the tension and prevent the heat of the day to get in the head of people visiting the crowded cemetery.
National Capital Region Police Office director (NCRPO) Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said the mascots will roam around the cemetery to welcome visitors and brighten up their mood.

“Pampaalis ng konting init ng ulo ng ating kababayan kung makikita silang nandiyan, nakikisali sa atin. Nakakadagdag yan ng kasiyahan,” Eleazar told the reporters on Thursday at the cemetery.
(It somewhat relieves the hot heads of our fellow people, if they see them here joining us. It adds cheers to people.)
