Albayalde: 500 cops deployed to Manila North Cemetery

Hundreds of policemen were deployed to the Manila North Cemetery on Wednesday in anticipation of the influx of people visiting the graves of their departed loved ones.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde said about 500 cops were deployed around the area on the eve of “Undas.”

Albayalde noted that the PNP would add more policemen in the said cemetery on Thursday, Nov 1.

He said, however, that no reserved forces would assigned at the Manila North Cemetery because they are deployed to malls and other places of convergence.

“Wala tayong ilalagay dito, ang mga reserve force natin nilalagay lang natin sa malalaking malls and other places of convergence,” Albayalde told reporters. “Sa mga sementeryo ipapaubaya natin ito sa mga territorial units natin.”

(We are not deploying the reserve force in cemeteries because they will be deployed to malls and other places of convergence. We will rely on our territorial units to secure the cemeteries.)

Albayalde was with National Capital Region Police Office Chief (NCRPO) Guillermo Eleazar and Quezon City Police District Chief Joselito Esquivel.

Albayalde said police presence in the cemeteries of Metro Manila will be maintained until the weekend. /ee
