Palace suspends gov’t work on Wednesday for ‘Undas’

Malacañang suspended government work starting 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, by authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, signed Memorandum Circular No. 51.

“To provide government employees full opportunity to properly observe All Saints Day (1 November 2018), and to allow them to travel to and from the different regions in the country, work in government offices on 31 October 2018 is hereby suspended from 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon onwards,” Medialdea said.

“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” he added.

The Palace official said “suspension of classes in private schools and work in private companies and offices are left to the sound discretion of their respective heads or employers.” /je
