Thieves broke into the house of a businesswoman in Quezon City and carted away more than P2 million in cash and valuables, according to police.
The complainant, Ancheta Candelario, told police that the burglary was only discovered when household members arrived from work on Thursday night.
Case investigator PO3 Modestino Juanson said the burglars barged into Candelario’s house in Barangay Sikatuna Village.
The woman lost P500,000 in cash; $5,000 in cash; P1 million worth of jewelry; a MacBook Pro worth P90,000; two Canon cameras worth P120,000; a P20,000 Kodak camera; a DVD player worth P20,000; two iPods worth P40,000; an iPhone pegged at P30,000; a North Face travel bag worth P7,000; and a Hedgren laptop bag costing P7,000.
Police are checking reports that six men, including a child, were involved in the burglary.
Juanson said a neighbor of the victim was able to record footage of the burglary from his house’s closed circuit television camera.
The footage showed a dark colored sports utility vehicle parked in front of Candelario’s house which was reportedly used by the suspects.
Candelario’s household members arrived from work at around 5 p.m. Thursday and discovered that the front door was forced open.
Investigators also found that the master bedroom was also forced open.
