Going QC way today? Take alternate routes

If you’re going to Quezon City or if you live in the city and plan to go to other places within the city this morning, please read this first before driving off to your destinations.

The 4th Quezon City International Marathon will be held today and city officials are advising motorists to take alternate routes to avoid anticipated traffic due to the marathon.

Some 1,800 policemen and traffic personnel from the city government and Metro Manila Development Authority have been tasked to assist motorists.

The marathon will start at 4 a.m. and is expected to last until noon. The route will cover major roads.

FEATURED STORIES

The northbound lane of the Commonwealth Avenue will be closed from the Quezon Memorial Cirle to the La Mesa Dam Ecopark in Fairview.

The portion of the Elliptical Road in front of Quezon City Hall has been partially closed since Saturday.

The C.P. Garcia Avenue at the University of the Philippines campus will be closed to traffic.

Full road closure will take effect at 3 a.m. today.

Vehicles will not be allowed on the northbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue during the marathon.

Those coming from North, East, Quezon and Visayas Avenues bound for Fairview are advised to take the counterflow lane at Commonwealth Avenue’s southbound lane.

Mindanao Avenue via Quirino Highway or Sauyo Road will be designated as alternate routes for motorists coming from QMC going to Fairview.

For vehicles going to QMC from Fairview, they may take Mindanao Avenue via Dahlia, Chesnut and Sauyo Roads.

Barangay public security officers will be also tasked to oversee traffic on secondary and inner roads.
