DOJ: Guban now under witness protection program

Resigned Customs intelligence officer Jimmy Guban has been admitted to the witness protection program (WPP), the Department of Justice (DOJ) chief said on Tuesday.

In a text message to reporters, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed that Guban entered the program but refused to provide further details.

“Yes, Mr. Guban has been admitted into the WPP. But, that’s all that I can say,” he said.

Earlier, Senator Richard Gordon said Guban will be turned over to the DOJ, noting that he would ask the approval of Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
