250 families evacuated in La Union, Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — More than 250 families have been moved to safer grounds in the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union since Monday (Oct. 29) as Typhoon “Rosita” crossed the Cordillera Mountains on Tuesday (Oct. 30) on its way to the West Philippine Sea.

At least 187 families were evacuated in La Union, more than half of them coming from the coastal town of Bangar, which is projected to be in the path of the storm.

The rest of the evacuees came from the towns of Agoo, Aringay, Luna, Tubao, Caba and Bauang, and San Fernando City.

In Pangasinan, 93 families from the coastal villages of Bolinao town and Dagupan and Alaminos cities have also been evacuated as the government weather bureau warned of storm surges of up to three meters high in the western seaboard.

On Tuesday, gusty winds and light to moderate rains were felt in the province.
