Seven provinces remain under Signal No. 3 as Typhoon “Rosita” (international name Yutu) churns towards Benguet midday Tuesday.
Still under Signal No. 3 are Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan and La Union, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
As of 10 a.m., “Rosita” was spotted in the vicinity of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. It was moving west southwest with a speed of 25 kilometers per hour (kph).
Rosita blew winds of 140 kph near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph.
Signal No. 2 meanwhile was raised over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales and Pampanga.
The Babuyan Group of Islands, Bulacan, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Bataan, Rizal, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas were placed under Signal No. 1.
Moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon.
Storm surges of up to 3 meters are also likely over the coastal areas of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan. /muf
