Raps readied vs MPD cop accused of raping minor

The rookie police officer accused of raping the 15-year-old daughter of drug suspects in Sampaloc, Manila has faced inquest according to the Manila Police District (MPD).

MPD reported on Monday that PO1 Eduardo Valencia, 29, assigned at the Sampaloc Police Station, is currently detained at the MPD’s Women and Children Protection Desk.  He was already disarmed and relieved of his post.

Investigation showed that operatives from the station’s Intelligence and Warrant Section and Anti-Crime Unit arrested on Thursday night the victim’s stepfather and biological mother at Sobriedad Extension in Sampaloc for drug-related cases.

After the two drug suspects were turned over to the station’s custodial facility, Valencia was supposed to accompany the victim to her house.  Instead, Valencia allegedly brought the victim to a motel in Sta. Mesa on Friday morning, with the promise that stepfather and mother would be released.

When the victim’s mother learned of the incident, she immediately filed a complaint against the policeman, which prompted the station’s operatives to arrest him on Saturday afternoon.

Valencia will be facing administrative charges and criminal cases for supposedly raping a minor, under R.A. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

On Monday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said that there will be no mercy for Valencia should he be found guilty of rape.

“We want to assure the public that we will show no mercy sa mga pulis na ganito if siya nga ay mapatunayan na guilty diyan,” Albayalde said.  /muf
