A developer of secure content and threat management solutions plans to get a share of the business process outsourcing and information technology sector in Cebu.
Alex Ng. Kaspersky Lab product manager, said Kaspersky Lab had committed to give its full support to provide solutions to both the consumer and enterprise market in Cebu.
The firm has seen Cebu’s growth prospects as identified by the Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT.
Cebu is also on the list of the most sought after “Next Wave Cities” for 2010.
“Because of this we have committed to fully support all projections and programs that are being set by the government and private investors in Cebu, recognizing its significant contributions to the overall growth of the ICT industry in the Philippines,” Ng said.
Ng said Kaspersky Lab started an extensive campaign to reach out to the business and consumer markets in Cebu.
He said they will tap several resellers in Cebu and nearby localities to widen its market base and develop potential economic growth areas.
He expects the firm to have a 15 percent to 20 percent growth in the Cebu market.
The firm was also considering other industries like manufacturing, retail, financing, transportation and communications as possible areas to tap.
Jimmy Fong, Kaspersky Lab South East Asia Channel sales director, said Cebu’s growth prospects of Cebu also carry risks against unwanted intrusion.
Fong was referring to businesses falling victims to hackers and cyber criminals who stole confidential business data or engage in corporate espionage using Trojans and worms that infect personalcomputers of corporate employees.
Fong said this is where Kaspersky Lab solutions comes in, offering an updated version of Kaspersky Open Space Security (KOSS).
It offers a full security suite that covers multiple IT platforms providing protection against all types of Internet threats and can be installed in
Microsoft Windows and Linux-based servers, as well as Macs.
Aside from that, they also offer Kaspersky Lab’s flagship products Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) and Kaspersky Anti Virus (KAV) which are already selling well in Cebu, especially after the company expanded its partner bases in Cebu in 2008.
Ng said that they currently have at least 40 dealers in Cebu.
