In anticipation of the influx of passengers during the ‘Undas’ break, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has canceled all leaves of employees in the coming week.
MMDA’s Operations Commander Bong Nebrija said in a press conference on Sunday that starting Wednesday, all employees of the MMDA would report for work to help manage traffic in the metro.
Nebrija said the agency has started deploying traffic enforcers around the metropolis.
The agency will monitor the Manila North Cemetery, the Manila South Cemetery, Bagbag Cemetery, Loyola Memorial Park, and the Manila Memorial Park during the break.
These cemeteries, according to Nebrija, have the highest number of visitors every year. Nearly 4 million are expected to visit the graves of their family members this year.
The MMDA would set up emergency tents around the vicinity of the cemeteries in Metro Manila to provide first aid needs.
“Magtatayo kami ng road emergency tents diyan — may ambulansya and first aid providers (We are putting up road emergency tents. There will be ambulances and first aid providers on standby),” he said.
“Magkakaroon rin po kami ng volunteers na may dalang wheelchairs para po sa ating mga senior citizen and persons with disability (Volunteers will bring wheelchairs for senior citizens and persons with disability),” he added. /ee
