PCG to impose strict security measures for ‘Undas’ season

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will enforce “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2018” which aimed to tighten security for all ports and ferry terminals nationwide to prepare for the All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day or the “Undas” season.

PCG operating units will start its strict security on Oct. 31 to ensure the safety of passengers.

PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino said the PCG units will conduct inspection on passengers and their luggage.

“Coast Guard K9 teams will conduct regular random checks on passengers and luggage more than the usual as a precautionary measure to ensure orderly, safe, convenient and secure sea travel,” Hermogino said in a statement on Friday.

PCG also advised passengers to arrive at their designated seaports at least three hours before departure time.

To avoid delays in departure time, PCG warned passengers to not bring dangerous items such as “ammunition, fireworks, flammable liquids and solids, compressed gases, corrosives radioactive materials, oxidizing materials, poisons and infectious substances and extremely bulky items.”

PCG said a Passenger Assistance Center booth will be set up to assist the passengers and minimize heavy queues. /muf
