The Marikina City government has laid out its traffic rerouting scheme as they anticipate the influx of people who would visit their departed loved ones in its cemeteries to observe All Saints Day and All Souls Day this year.
In an advisory, the local government said the special traffic arrangement will take effect from midnight of October 31 until midnight of November 1.
The city government said one-way traffic eastbound will be implemented along A. Bonifacio Ave. from Barangka Flyover up to the intersection of Shoe Avenue during “Undas.”
For those planning to go to Loyola Memorial Park, motorists will have to utilize Marcos Highway to reach Barangka Flyover or Barangka Underloop and access A. Bonifacio Avenue.
The city government said Loyola Memorial Park Gate 2 will serve as motorist’s main entrance to the cemetery. To reach this gate, motorists will have to turn left at Plaza de las Flores then turn left again at Paspasan Street, and then turn right to Don Gonzalo Puyat Street.
Loyola Memorial Park Gate 1, meanwhile, will serve as motorist’s exit. To reach this gate, motorists will have to turn right to Paspasan Street, then left at Chorillo St., and left again to A. Bonifacio Avenue.
The Riverbanks Avenue will be open for southbound traffic or for motorists going to Marcos Highway from A. Bonifacio Avenue, the city government said.
Earlier, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has listed the Loyola Memorial Park as one of the major cemeteries under their watch. /kga
