The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) vowed readiness for the influx of passengers in the airports for the holiday season.
“Historically, laging tumataas ang ating population pagka-ganung panahon,” Miaa General Manager Ed Monreal said on Wednesday during a press conference.
“We’re prepared no matter what’s the volume, ready to accept and assist and look after the passengers,” he added.
According to the data of Miaa, a total of 42,022,003 international and local passengers went in and out of the four main airports of the country during the 2017 Undas break.
The agency noted that this was six percent higher from 2016 which only had 39,516,782 passengers using the airports.
Monreal has already appealed to the Bureau of Immigration to open all of its airport booths during peak hours to attend the high number of expected passengers.
He also asked travelers to be patient as they wait for their turn to be assisted by the immigration officers. /je
