LUPAO, Nueva Ecija – A 54-year-old woman has survived a gun attack allegedly committed by her daughter’s alleged molester, police said Wednesday.

Emma Almerol, a resident of Barangay (village) Poblacion West, was tending to her stall at the town market at 1 p.m. on Tuesday when she was shot by a man sporting a hooded gray jacket and a surgical mask.

Investigators said the gunman approached Almerol’s stall, pretending to be a customer, and shot her at close range with a handgun. Almerol was rushed to a nearby hospital and is now in a stable condition.

Police said Almerol recognized her attacker as Henry Lacansadile, who is facing trial for acts of lasciviousness at the Regional Trial Court Branch 38 in San Jose for purportedly molesting her daughter, who is a minor.

A manhunt was launched against Lacansadile, police said.  /kga
