Part of Roxas Boulevard to close on Saturday

A portion of Roxas Boulevard in the City of Manila will be closed to traffic on Saturday, October 27, for the 40th anniversary of Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church at the Rizal Park.

Three lanes from Kalaw to P. Burgos going southbound will be closed to motorists starting 12:01 am for some technical operations, according to an advisory from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday.

Remaining lanes on the said portion of the road will be totally closed from 10 am until 12 midnight, the advisory added.

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said the JIL would use the Quirino Grandstand as venue for the event. Around 100,000 participants are expected to attend the anniversary celebration.

“We advise the public to stay away from the area if you have no important business there,” Garcia said.

Traffic enforcers will also be working with the local government authorities to manage traffic in the area and ensure safety of participants.

A lane on Kalaw, Bonifacio Drive, and P. Burgos will serve as drop-off points of buses carrying the attendees of the event, according to MMDA.

Meanwhile, designated parking areas are placed near Intramuros, Cultural Center of the Philippines, and the Philippine International Convention Center. /cbb
