For former-Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, the dismissal of a motion to arrest Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was more a “moral than a legal victory.”
On Monday, the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 denied the petition of the Department of Justice (DOJ) for warrant against Trillanes for his coup d’etat case.
“This dismissal of the motion to arrest Sen. trillanes is more a moral than a legal victory. The legal issue is clear and can be answered with common sense,” Hilbay said in a twitter post on Monday.

Hilbay, who is vying for a Senate seat in the 2019 midterm polls, added that the dismissal of the motion provides credibility to the country’s justice system, which is badly needed.
“This victory provides much needed credibility to the justice system. And this is what we badly need right now. Good day for law,” he further said.

In a 33-page ruling, Judge Andres Soriano denied the DOJ’s request for an arrest order against Trillanes but affirmed the validity of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 572. /cbb
