Immigration agents catch 8 Chinese fugitives in Muntinlupa

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) will deport eight Chinese fugitives wanted in Beijing for their alleged involvement in economic crimes.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said the aliens were arrested last week in their office at Northgate Information Technology Park in Filinvest Corporate City, Muntinlupa City.

“These aliens are undesirable and are already undocumented as their passports have already been canceled by the Chinese government,” Morente told reporters.

They will also be placed on the BI’s blacklist to prevent their return to the country, he said.

The seven men and a woman arrested were identified as Li You, Chen Huapeng, Sun Bin, Lu Changren, Li Zigou, Li Lei, Fu Chen and Wu Sile.

Cybercrime operations

The BI said some of the foreigners were even caught in the act of manning their workstations to conduct cybercrime operations, with some of their victims their fellow Chinese citizens in China.

“The Chinese Embassy in Manila sought our assistance in capturing these fugitives so they can be deported to China and face their crimes,” the
bureau added.

The eight Chinese nationals were the latest to be captured under the bureau’s intensified campaign to flush out illegal aliens, including not only fugitives but also those working illegally in the country.
