The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged local government units (LGU) on Monday to wisely use millions of pesos in cash incentives to be given to them while warning them against any diversion of the funds.
DILG Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año issued the plea and the warning after he ordered the release of P980 million in performance incentive funds (PCFs) to 263 LGUs that won the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for 2018.
Winning LGUs are eligible to P7 million per province, P5.1 million per city and P3.2 million per municipality.
(Please use the prize for worthy projects because I assure you that the DILG will closely watch you to make sure that the funds will be used for the people and only for the people.)
Año stressed that the financial incentives provided to the deserving LGU should be used to improve the delivery of its public service.
Huwag nating sayangin,” he said.
(The prize should provide new opportunities for us to serve and give proper, well and dependable service to our countrymen. Don’t let is go to waste.)
“The SGLG criteria is harder this year so make good use of the PCF prize money.
(I hope the LGUs use the funds on projects that would raise the level of livelihood of their constituents.)
The DILG will soon release the PCF Operational Guidelines for LGUs’ guidance on the process and management of their proposed projects and its fund. It will contain the general policies and procedures in the implementation of the PCF program. /cbb
