Ex-mayor of Camarines Sur town dies after car falls off hill

LEGAZPI CITY — The former mayor of Milaor town in Camarines Sur province died after the car he was in crashed into a road steel barrier and fell down the hill at the Andaya National highway in Ragay town early morning Monday, police said.

According to the police, the vehicle of ex-mayor Andre Hidalgo veered to the left side of the lane it was traversing due to the slippery road.

The vehicle ran off into a steel barrier and eventually fell down the hill off the portion of Andaya National highway at Barangay (village) F. Simeon around 1:30 a.m.

Hidalgo was with incumbent Milaor Vice Mayor Senen Bermas, 50, and driver Vincent Claro, 36. Bernard and Claro were taken to the hospital after suffering injuries.

Hidalgo and his companions were on their way home to Milaor from Manila when the incident happened.

Police said further investigation is being conducted on the incident. /je
