Malacañang “strongly denounced” on Sunday the attack on the convoy of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Nela Charade Puno in Lupi town, Camarines Sur province last Thursday.

“We strongly denounce the ambush of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Nela Charade G. Puno and her convoy in Camarines Sur which left at least three policemen dead and three others wounded,” Palace Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.
The Palace, meanwhile, commended and expressed “deep condolences” to the bereaved families and loved ones of the policemen who died in their line of duty.
“While DG Puno is unharmed by this surprise attack, she has been advised by authorities to defer attending the wake of the policemen,” Panelo said.
“We likewise send our prayers and thoughts for the speedy recovery of the policemen who were wounded during this brazen assault,” he added.
The Palace official also ensured that investigation is now underway and that the perpetrators behind the attack will be brought to justice. /je
