The local government of Cebu launched a fundraising campaign, dubbed “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko,” for the construction of a new building of Cebu City Medical Center.
The three-story structure of the city-run hospital was declared unfit for occupancy following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit the provinces of Cebu and Bohol on Oct. 15, 2013.
Huge and deep cracks were found on the columns of the 45-year-old hospital, which affected its structural integrity.
The construction cost was estimated at P1.5 billion. Construction of the hospital is on its second phase as of May this year.

The subprovince of Catanduanes was separated from Albay province and became a separate province by virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 687.
The 11 municipalities of Catanduanes, including its capital, Virac, comprise the province.
According to legend, Catanduanes derived its name from the local word “tandu,” a click beetle that was purportedly abundant in the province.
Another legend says that the name came from the word “samdong,” a tree found in the island province, which later became “katandungan,” before calling it Catanduanes.
