MANILA, Philippines—A tricycle driver was wounded after being shot by a still unidentified suspect before dawn Thursday in Agusan del Sur, police said.

Superintendent Martin Gamba, CARAGA police spokesman, said that the victim, identified as Mario Monebet Daligdig, 31, was driving his red STX passenger tricycle (XR-4196) around 1:40 a.m. along P-8, in the village of Alegria, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, when he was suddenly shot by one of his three passengers.

Daligdig, who is also a farmer, survived but sustained a gunshot wound to his back. He was rushed to D.O Plaza Memorial Hospital for treatment, Gamba said.

However, the suspect managed to escape, he said, adding that San Francisco police were investigating the case.
