MPD issues traffic plan for ‘Mazu’ procession on Oct. 22 to 23

The Manila Police District-Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-TEU) announced on Friday the routes that the devotees will take for the procession of the image of the Chinese goddess “Mazu” to guide motorists who will be affected by the expected slow traffic flow.

Mazu is the Chinese goddess of the sea and was believed to have thousands of devotees worldwide.

The MPD-TEU will impose a stop-and-go-traffic scheme on all the intersections to make way during the parade.

The procession schedule is on Oct. 22 (Monday) at 9 a.m. onwards and Oct. 23 (Tuesday) at 7:30 a.m. onwards.

Here are the following routes for Monday:

  • Starting from Katigbak Drive fronting Ermita Police Station 5
  • Straight to P. Burgos Avenue
  • Straight to Jones Bridge – Quintin Paredes Street
  • Straight to Plaza Ruiz in Binondo

Here are the following routes for Tuesday:

  • Starting from Plaza Ruiz
  • Straight to Juan Luna Street
  • Left to Plaza Cervantes
  • Right to Jones Bridge
  • Straight to P. Burgos Avenue
  • Up to Katigbak Drive
  • Left to Quirino Grandstand

The MPD-TEU also advised motorists to take alternative routes as heavy traffic will be expected. /jpv
