“Ayoko yan kasi baka discriminatory yan sa mga kandidato na akala nila talagang pwede sila, (tapos) biglang na-nuisance sila, hindi naman nila kasalanan yon,” Guanzon said on Friday at GMA’s Eleksyon 2019 launch held at GMA Network Center.
Gatchalian’s Senate Bill 911 seeks to penalize those who use the certificate of candidacy (COC) filing period to disrespect the electoral process with a P50,000 fine.
“Kung wala silang pera, ano yun ikukulong namin sila? Ay hindi, hindi maganda. So sana ibang panukala nalang kasi alam mo, demokrasya ito e,” Guanzon added.
The poll commissioner added that those who do not have the financial capability to campaign will be afraid to file their COCs.
“Kailangan inclusive tayo. Lahat pwede. Kung qualified under the Constitution pwede,” she added.
During the five-day period for the filing of COCs, 152 senatorial candidates and 185 party-list bets have filed their certificates of candidacy and nomination for next year’s midterm elections. /muf
