Conflicts within the family ended in the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old fisherman in barangay Malbago, Daanbatayan town, Cebu.
Lyndon Conde succumbed to multiple stab wounds in the body.
Police later arrested the victim’s father, Dionesio Conde Sr., and his younger brother Dodie as suspects in the killing.
Police said it was the victim’s older brother Dionesio Jr. who pinned down Dionesio Sr. and Dodie.
Dionesio Jr. told police that it was Dionesio Sr. and Dodie who took turns in attacking the victim.
According to the report, the relationship between the victim and the suspects went sour after Lyndon stopped giving some of his catch to his father.
Dodie lived with his parents.
Police said Lyndon and Dodie attended a benefit dance in their barangay. The two men, who were both drunk, were headed home when they figured in an argument that led to a fistfight, said PO2 Alfredo Mandal, investigator of the Daanbantayan police.
Dionesio Jr., who lives near his parents house, said he heard a commotion and hurriedly ran outside his house.
Dionesio Jr. said he saw a bloodied Lyndon and rushed him to the town’s hospital where the victim was declared dead.
Charges are being readied against the two suspects, said police./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
