3 injured as cargo vessel collides with fastcraft at Lauis Ledge

CEBU CITY—At least three persons were injured after a cargo vessel collided with a fastcraft at Lauis Ledge in Talisay City on Thursday evening (October 18).

The Philippine Coast Guard- Cebu (PCG) received the collision alarm at around 8:45 p.m.

Involved in the collision the fastcraft MV Fastcat M11 and the cargo vessel MV Ocean United, owned by the Oceanic Shipping Lines.

PCG-Cebu spokesperson Lt. Jg. Mike Encina said three persons of the fast craft sustained injuries.

“One of the three passengers was rushed to hospital,” said Encina.

Encina said the middle part of the fastcraft was also damaged. It however managed to return safely to Pier 3 in Cebu City.

Encina said the fast craft was headed to Tubigon, Bohol with 70 passengers when the collision happened.

“We checked the area where the incident happened and fortunately there was no oil spill observed in the area,” said Encina.

Both vessels are now being held as the PCG-Cebu will conduct a further investigation of the incident /muf
