2 dead in Laguna, Batangas shootouts

SAN PEDRO CITY- An alleged drug pusher and a man who did not stop at a police checkpoint were killed in separate shootouts with police in Laguna and Batangas provinces early on Friday.

In Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, an alleged drug pusher identified only as an alias “Allan” was killed in a buy-bust operation at around 3 a.m. in Barangay (village) Dita.


A report from the Laguna Regional Police Office said the suspect was killed after engaging the police officers in a shootout. Police said “Allan” was included in the drugs watch list of the Laguna police.

Meanwhile in Malvar, Batangas, a still unidentified man was killed following a brief chase in Barangay Poblacion at around 1:30 a.m.


Police said prior to the shootout, the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, refused to stop at a police checkpoint and opened fire at police officers.

Recovered from the suspect was a caliber .45 pistol and the motorcycle which is suspected to be stolen. /muf
