Robredo, Sotto maintain net satisfaction ratings
Vice President Leni Robredo and Senate President Vicente Sotto III have maintained their net satisfaction ratings in September, a survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS) has indicated.
Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, meanwhile, recorded a “neutral” negative rating in the first survey taken after she was elected Speaker.
Results of the survey also showed that retired Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, whose term lasted 41 days, recorded a “neutral” net satisfaction rating.
Conducted from Sept. 15 to 23 among 1,500 adults, the survey showed that 57 percent of the respondents were satisfied with Robredo’s performance, while 23 percent said otherwise, for a net satisfaction rating of “good” +34 (satisfied minus dissatisfied).
This was two points higher than her +32 rating in June.
Robredo’s camp on Wednesday expressed elation over the results of the survey, with her spokesperson, Ibarra Gutierrez, saying the Vice President was “humbled and grateful” for the expression of trust and support.
‘Validation of her work’
“This is a validation of her work in uplifting the lives and giving voice to the concerns of the poor, especially those in the peripheries, and of her consistent stand in defending democracy and human rights,” Gutierrez said in a statement.
In the same survey, 68 percent said they were satisfied with Sotto, while 13 percent were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of “very good” +55, from a “very good” +54 rating in June, the first time Sotto was rated after he became Senate President on May 21, replacing Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III.
Arroyo’s net rating was -4, as 34 percent said they were satisfied with her performance, while 38 percent said they were dissatisfied.

The former President was installed Speaker on July 23.
As President, Arroyo’s net satisfaction rating averaged -7. All her ratings were negative from October 2004 onward, with the lowest being a “very bad” -53 in March 2010.
De Castro, who retired on Oct. 8, got a net satisfaction rating of +4, with 33 percent saying they were satisfied and 29 percent saying they were dissatisfied with her performance.
The nationwide SWS survey used a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percentage points. —Inquirer Research and Melvin Gascon
