The “Please Be Careful with My Heart” star filed his certificate of candidacy for Cebu City north district congressman under Barug -PDP-Laban on Wednesday at the Commission on Elections Cebu City office.

It is Yap’s first foray in politics. But the actor appeared undaunted to be facing against a political veteran.

“There is more to us than being celebrities. I guess the public should also look beyond (our status) as actors,” said Yap, adding that he already had a list of proposed legislations once elected into office.

Although based in Manila, Yap is a native of Cebu. He recently transferred his voter’s registration in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

“Just because we are celebrities, we are not qualified. We maybe even more qualified than most government officials,” he also said. /kga
