Duterte appoints De Vera as CHED chair

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Prospero De Vera III as chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) until July 2022.

De Vera’s appointment paper was signed by the President last Friday but was released to Palace reporters only on Wednesday.

De Vera has served as CHED Commissioner since 2016, and was designated CHED Officer in Charge by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea last January, when former CHED chairperson Patricia Licuanan resigned.

De Vera is also currently the official spokesperson of the Commission.  /muf
