Sheryl Cruz files COC to run for Manila councilor

Actress Sheryl Cruz has filed her certificate of candidacy for councilor in the second district of Manila.

Cruz said she is entering politics because she has become more aware of the needs of the people.

“Marami na po akong beses na inuudyok na tumakbo. Hindi ko naman sinasarado yung doors sa pulitika. It’s just that siguro ngayon mas aware na ako eto yung pangangailangan ng taong nakikita ko,” she said in an interview on Tuesday.

(I’ve been encouraged to run for public office many times. I am not closing my doors to politics. Maybe I’m just more aware now of the needs of our people.)

The actress added that she wants to start public service in her family’s hometown.

“Gusto ko magsimula sa distrito kung san galing yung pamilya Cruz kasi diyan lumaki yung lolo ko at diyan tumira yung pamilya namin (I want to start in the district where the Cruz family came from because my grandfather grew up there, and it is also where my family lived),” she said. /ee
